Rimowa's Topas aluminum cases are among the lightest and sturdiest cases in the world. The grooved aluminum-magnesium shells will protect against severe humidity and extreme temperature changes and stand up to the stresses of frequent travel. With first-class quality and fine interior details, Topas has everything required by the demanding traveler.

Eye Candy
PROS: Beautiful appearance, but best suited to be used as a carry-on. The three separate hinges are a weak point (see below). Also, the suitcase will most likely be worth more than its contents. I'd avoid taking this one to a third world country...you'll be a target for thieves and pickpockets because you'll look wealthy even if you're not.

CONS: Two weak points:
1.  The latches with combination locks fasten to plastic pieces which could easily be snapped off by inserting a screwdriver.  No suitcase is completely break-in proof, but these latches only provide an illusion of security.
2.  The three small hinges should be replaced by a piano type hinge, running the full length of the case. like the old Halliburtons.  The three separate hinges will not stand up as well as a full length hinge.

Pros and Cons
PROS: Great for packing a suit or even two in one side, everything else in the other.

CONS: I never carry on. After a dozen flights, one rivet was off on two corners and the metal was banged up. It lacked the durability that seemed to be there with the extra weight compared to lighter models.

Good but not the best
PROS: Design and quality

CONS: Expensive. Halliburton luggage are equivalent/better in term of quality/durability but at a lower price. I have both Rimowa & Halliburton. For tough environments, Halliburton [after 25 years of beating...I am still traveling with the same piece]. For the glamour and design, Rimowa. When you arrive at expensive hotels, they know that you are traveling in style.

Great carry on!
PROS: Rock solid, great looking, and you can sit on it at the airport unless you are 300 lb. Looks smaller than it is so usually not weighed/measured even by the pesky Europeans.

CONS: Can't be stretched, not even just a little, not even a tiny little bit.

PROS: Solid, takes a beating and still looks and works perfect!

CONS: Can not say anything negative......
