Rimowa's Topas aluminum cases are among the lightest and sturdiest cases in the world. The grooved aluminum-magnesium shells will protect against severe humidity and extreme temperature changes and stand up to the stresses of frequent travel. With first-class quality and fine interior details, Topas has everything required by the demanding traveler.
PROS: Great status symbol when traveling. When everyone else is toting around a piece of crap suitcase, you can look like someone who knows what they are doing by using one of these. Hot tip.... These cases ship extremely well. Just slap a FedEx or UPS label on it and ship it ahead of you to your hotel, then when you check out just put a return pre-paid label on there and have it shipped back to you. They do this for me all the time and it works flawlessly. Now whenever I show up at a hotel my Rimowa case is there waiting for me with all my stuff. SWEET!!!
If you want your luggage to stay pristine and nice then skip this product. It will get dinged up and scratched pretty easily if you ship it or fly commercial. Rimowa mentions this and takes a bit of pride in the fact that your suitcase will have the battle scars to prove the wardrobe department used it for your north American summer tour and it kept all you hotel clothes in good condition. Maybe this matters to you, maybe not, but it will get scratched up the more you use it.
I love these cases and use this size quite a bit. I purchased the Rimowa suit/garment bag that fits in this one and can carry a suit and shirt in it easily.
CONS: Maybe put a piano hinge on this rather than the three small hinges. Not sure how much extra weight it would add, but that is about the only thing I can think of.
