Best Backpack on Wheels
PROS: I love this bag. Lite, easy to roll and carry. Some of my favorite features are the detachable day pack that clips to the front when carried as a backpack.I also love the place for the water bladder. I had a very earlier version of this bag, like 20 years ago and it has been a great back for my travels to Europe. The only reason I replaced it is because it was damaged in a house flood. I look forward to the next 20 years with this bag.

CONS: I would like to see a waist belt on the main bag. Of course I will say, the extra clips that included do help with keeping the weight off your shoulders,

PROS: Researched it. Watched the video from Eagle Creek. Bought the bag. Immediately knew there are problems. Not returning it, as I'll probably gift it to family, but for me - no can do. My expectation was a rolling trolley that is actually 2 bags, main trolley and removable backpack, but to do that I had very specific expectations. The backpack needs to have some volume to it, should accommodate all the average items you'd put in a backpack. This one falls a bit short in that department. Zipper access of the backpack is "sensitive" and zipper is only a semicircle that doesn't allow huge access. The second and MOST important issue is that the attaching and reattaching is incredibly poorly designed. The concept is right, but you have 4 points of attachment, thru the flimsiest fabric eyelets, and the clips take major coordination to clip on. Taking the backpack off and clipping it back on, while ON A PLANE, with a lineup of passengers waiting, is simply IMPOSSIBLE with this bag. If that's how you want to use it. There is another model which instead of clips has a u-shaped zipper. Again, NOT easy to do onboard a plane on a moments notice. There is only one bag that meets this expectation: the Osprey Meridian (has zipper for backpack if you want, but also a super easy 3 point clip on attachment). WHY do I want this versatility? Air travel: if camouflaged as ONE bag, you will then be able to bring a second bag, e.g. shoulder bag, guitar, or whatever.

CONS: Very lightweight. That's good.

Best in Class: Carry On All-Purpose Bag... This one does it ALL!
PROS: I've tried numerous carry on bags while trying to find the perfect all-purpose travel bag. I've tried well-made, great looking bags from Filson. I've tried various brands of rolling luggage. I've tried the backpack route. Finally, with the Eagle Creek DoubleBack Carry-On, I have found one bag that does ALL of those things.

I love:

-It's small, but roomy enough for two weeks in Europe if you pack smart and use compression bags
- Super light weight
- Seems to be well made and has held up to many trips thus far
- The backpack on the front is perfect to clip off and use as your day excursion pack. No need to pack an extra backpack
- I can wheel this thing when I'm tired, backpack it when I'm walking over rough areas, carry-handle it on and off buses and trains. This does it all!

CONS: The only thing you give up with this bag is the great looks of a classic Filson bag or a the fancy look of a more expensive brand. It looks a bit like a college kid hiking across Europe type of bag. If you're looking for style and don't mind spending $600 on a waxed canvas/ leather Filson bag or even more on a froufrou brand, go ahead, but you're going to regret how "great you look" trying to roll your Coach bag over 13th century cobblestone or how sweaty you are after lugging your six matching bags to your hotel.
