Product Questions
Q:
Does this suitcases have the 4 Point Expansion Stability system so the bag stays upright when it is completely filled and expanded or does it fall forward?
A:
Yes, the Travelpro Maxlite 22" Expandable Rollaboard has the 4 Point Expansion Stability system so the bag stays upright when it is completely filled and expanded. - Answered by Emma on March 21, 2012
Q:
Can you give me the interior capacity in cubid inches, expanded and not expanded?
A:
The interior packing space of the Travelpro Maxlite 22" Expandable Rollaboard before the item is expanded is 2,772 cubic inches, and 3,024 cubic inches after the item is expanded. - Answered by Emma on March 13, 2012
Q:
Can you ship this item internationally?
A:
Yes, this item is available to ship internationally. - Answered by Emma on December 30, 2011
Q:
What are the laptop-compartment dimensions? My laptop is a larger one: 14" x 10" with the screen diagonal at 15".
A:
Travelpro designs their bags to fit most 17" laptops. The Travelpro Maxlite 22" Expandable Rollaboard will fit a 17" laptop; however, the front pocket does not provide extra padding to protect laptops. - Answered by Emma on September 22, 2011
Q:
I want to order some luggage tags with photos on them. What size jpeg file is best for this purpose?
A:
Send us the best quality image you have. You can preview it before you send it. - Answered by Peter on June 28, 2011
Q:
I am looking for an additional piece (large purse size or small duffel) that will fit through the handles of the 22" expandable, and rest on top of it as I wheel my luggage around. Do you have anything like this?
A:
Here is a link to a piece that would be a great addition to your set. http://www.luggagepros.com/travelpro-maxlite-duffel-bag.shtml - Answered by Peter on June 21, 2011
Q:
Does the Maxlite have a couple of reinforcements to protect the fabric from abrasion along the back length?
A:
No, the only reinforcements that will be on the back of the bag will be around the wheels. - Answered by Kyle on May 11, 2011
Q:
Is the computer compartment padded or protected?
A:
No, the computer area for this bag will not have any padding to protect your laptop. - Answered by Kyle on April 29, 2011
Q:
Will a Macbook Pro 15 inch fit? I think the size is really 14 and 1/4 inches wide.
A:
Yes, this will fit inside of the bag no problem. In terms of trying to fit in one of the front compartments you should also be fine as well. Travelpro does not provide us with the dimensions of the exterior pockets, so I cannot guarantee it, but does look long enough to accommodate a laptop of this size. - Answered by Kyle on April 29, 2011
Q:
Is this a carry-on bag? I want to make be sure the airlines will allow this?
A:
Yes, the airlines provide us with a 45 linear inch carry on cut off. This bag will measure out to 45 linear inches, so it should be fine. We always recommend contacting the airline before hand to confirm that their restricting at 45 linear inches. Also, if it is a smaller plane, or the flight is overbooked, they may make you check the bag, even if it does fall within their guidelines. - Answered by Kyle on April 29, 2011
Q:
Does this bag meet international airport requirements for Carryons? I'm traveling to Germany.
A:
I know the domestic carry on restriction is 45 linear inches, which is what this bag measures out to. I unfortunately do not have any of the international carry on guidelines as they change frequently. I would recommend contacting the airline you are flying with to confirm what their current carry on restriction is. - Answered by Kyle on April 29, 2011
Q:
What is the depth of the bag when fully opened?
A:
The depth of the bag when it is opened is 6". - Answered by Kyle on March 10, 2011
Q:
Does this bag have a net zipped holder on the thinner top of the bag to separate clothes that must be flat from other things, like the old one did?
A:
The only net zipped part on this bag will be on the lid. It is the small section that you can see when the bag is opened. Under the net zipped part, there is a larger zippered part, it is not netted, but does look like it unzips all the way so you can put clothes in there that you would like to stay flat. - Answered by Kyle on April 29, 2011
Q:
Does the 22" length include the wheels and the bar along the bottom? This is important. Thank you.
A:
Travelpro's dimensions will not include the wheels and the bar on the bottom of the bag. - Answered by Kyle on April 27, 2011
Q:
Are your wheels replaceable and if so do you list service centers?
A:
The wheels for this bag are replaceable. All warranty and repair matters are handled with the vendor directly. You would want to contact Travelpro to locate a repair center in your area. Their customer service number is 1-800-741-7471. - Answered by Kyle on April 27, 2011
Q:
Does this bag have a strap to attach a briefcase or another small bag?
A:
No, the Maxlite's will not come with an add-a-bag strap. - Answered by Kyle on December 28, 2010

Pros: I've been using this bag frequently for over a year, and I've been so satisfied that I've just purchased another one. I no longer use my Travelpro platinums, which are much heavier. This bag is also better than the next generation Maxlite 2. Although the Maxlite 2 is slightly lighter, it is less roomy overall and does not expand as much.

Cons: Not one.

Pros: I like that it is lighter weight. Unfortunately, I did not order it in time for a business trip to Europe, but am looking forward to my next trip. I have a 15 year old Crew 22 that has been all over the world. Am repairing the telescopic handle and wheels because I can't give it up.

Cons: When you open the bag and lift the top, most of the large inside top pocket is solid material. I like the netting so I can see what I have packed and can reach it easily.

Pros: Light weight and perfect fit for carry on bag. My wife wanted a nice, light weight bag for our trips and this is perfect. I prefer bags like Purdy Neat with a steel cage construction. But, they are very heavy. Travel pro make a nice bag for your money.

Cons: I'm a frequent traveler(every week), and I'm very rough on my bags. In my experience Travel Pro bags only last about 3 years of heavy use. However, for an occasional traveler this is a nice bag and should hold up for many more years.

Pros: Great value for this price.
Nice design, and very very light weight.

(Not about the product, but the company personnel was helpful.)

Cons: It is not as stable, and prone to fall toward. This can be a trouble when some of the valuable (i.e., laptop computer) is in front of the pocket. One solution for this can be putting heavy things in the back (close to the carrier bar) rather than the front pocket area.

Pros: I did a lot of research before making this purchase. I was willing to spend a lot more and "wanted" to go with Tumi because of the name. I learned that this piece has better features than most competitors, including expandability. It seems to be the "lightest" 22" inch on the market and the telescoping handle has two lengths - including a longer height for taller people like myself. The material is wearing very well - no dings or noticeable scratches for the 15,000+ miles I've traveled in the last month.

Pros: Bought to replace a Travelpro Crew 7 22" Expandable Rollaboard Suiter that popped the rivets on the top handle after more than 10 years of use. I like the light weight, the zippers quality, the usefulness of the outside pockets, and the improved wheels on this case.

Cons: The internal use of space does not seem as well implemented as in the Travelpro Crew 7 22" Expandable Rollaboard Suiter. I am used to having more usable packing space above the divider. But I’m not packing suits anymore, so I expect this will work out as I experiment with different ways of packing for the trips I am making now.
