Travel locks make baggage tamper-proof and provide an extra layer of security against pickpockets and thieves. There are several different types to choose from, depending on individual needs and preferences. The most basic model is the classic padlock, which keeps people from accessing zippered compartments. An adjustable cable style simply wraps around the items, cinches shut and then locks. The flexible, plastic-coated, retractable, stainless-steel cable makes threading the lock uncomplicated. Luggage straps are similar to the cable variety, because they wrap around luggage and lock. The difference is that they resemble a seat belt. To encase the entire bag, use security webs, which are made from a slash-proof, stainless-steel wire. Most styles will work on most everything including backpacks, briefcases, camera equipment and golf bags. To keep luggage safe while waiting to board a flight or while taking a nap, fasten bags to a secure object. For a minimal investment, travel locks provide maximum security.
