Built to be comfortable when both a backpack and wheels are essential. The zip-off daypack is a perfect size for days exploring and includes a laptop sleeve that accommodates most 17" laptops.
Q:
Does daypack open up all the way like clamshell so that laptop would not have to be removed?
A:
No, the daypack on the Eagle Creek Exploration System 3 Switchback Max 22 does not open all the way. - Answered by Emma on January 3, 2012
Q:
What is the difference between the Switchback 22 and the newer 2011 model? From what I can see the 2011 model is heavier in weight and has an exterior/interior access on the main pack which is not good for security. Can you advise me please? Thank you
A:
The Eagle Creek Exploration System 3 Switchback Max 22 new 2011 model is heavier, because they have upgraded wheel and handle system. Also the all the main pockets that have access to the interior pack are lockable. - Answered by Emma on August 16, 2011

Too Big!
PROS: The bag is relatively light and the quality of construction appears to be solid. It is a good looking piece of luggage but it has one MAJOR flaw..........

CONS: Warning! This bag will not pass the carry on size requirements if you are asked to verify its size in one of those sizing bins. The wheels stick out too far....it will not even fit in the overhead compartment wheels first (as the attendants ask you to do)--the bag has to go in sideways or else it prevents the lid of the overhead compartment from closing. The zippers also tend to snag quite often...you have to make a conscious effort to push the material away from the zipper every time you use it.
I have yet to use the harness, so I cannot comment on the backpack aspect of this bag.
I like the bag in general, but the uncertainty of whether I will be allowed to carry it on is a deal killer for me. Eagle Creek said there was nothing they could do for me, I am stuck with it. BUYER BEWARE!

Great for Long Trips.
PROS: Light weight easy to move throughout airports and travel on ground. I use this bag everywhere I go. Very good for 15.5 laptop & carry on accessible.

CONS: Separation zipper undos itself when I open the main compartment. I use a pice of paracord to stop that. Belt snap buckle broke for the wasteband; I replaced it with a stronger buckle.
